Historical evidence, not a live safety assessment. The default data ends in 2025. Missing readings and BDL/ND never count as clean water. Units are assumed; total coliform is unavailable.
Sites in scope—Including sites with missing events
Outside reference—Of numerically assessed core readings
Core data coverage—pH, dissolved oxygen and BOD
Checks to fill—Missing, flagged or below detection

    Recorded pollution priority

Compare numeric, unflagged pH, dissolved oxygen and BOD with the supplied CPCB Class B references, then group sites in this order: (1) any dissolved oxygen below reference, (2) breaches only in pH or BOD, (3) assessed with no breach, (4) nothing assessable, which stays unranked. Inside group 1, order by lowest recorded oxygen, then by how often that site's oxygen is below reference. Remaining ties use worst normalised deviation, then the proportion of assessed readings outside reference. Equal evidence shares a rank.

Deviation: oxygen = max(0, (minimum − value) / minimum); BOD = max(0, (value − maximum) / maximum); pH = distance outside the reference range / range width. Oxygen is grouped ahead of the rest because its deviation cannot exceed 1.0 while BOD's is unbounded, so ranking on deviation alone would place one high BOD reading above water holding no oxygen at all. This is an explicit project rule, not an official CPCB risk score or a validated prediction model.

    Fresh testing priority

Order sites by lowest core coverage, then oldest latest numeric evidence year, then uncertain site identity. The latest evidence year respects the selected festival and does not use years later than the selected year. Report years cannot tell us the exact age of a sample.

Nine core checks are expected per site and event: three parameters at three stages. A site in the loaded dataset stays on the list when its entire selected event is missing. Events absent from the entire dataset cannot be inferred.

    Recovery & history

“Returned within reference” requires an outside-reference during reading followed by a within-reference after reading. It does not mean a return to the original baseline or certify safety. Before/after differences require both numeric readings.

History compares the same parameter, festival and phase across years. Missing points break lines; no missing value is filled in. These comparisons do not establish that immersion caused the observed changes.

    Schematic map

The map places the seven Bhopal ghats on a simplified sketch of the Upper Lake, Lower Lake, Shahpura Lake and Hathaikheda dam. Positions come from ghat_locations.csv, with a confidence and a public source for each; two are from OpenStreetMap, the rest are approximate placements that a teammate or the officer should confirm. No map tiles are downloaded and nothing is sent anywhere. Marker colour follows the ranking shown in the list; the map never changes a rank.

The per-parameter breakdown in the totals compares each numeric, unflagged reading with its Class B reference for the selected scope.

    Bring new measurements

Download the upload template. Fill in the site, year, festival, phase and laboratory measurements. Clear the missing-data flag when supplying a number. Oxygen and BOD must be in mg/l. Uploads replace the in-memory dataset; they are not saved or merged with existing rows.

A PDF link means the measurement matches a bundled source row, not independent laboratory verification. For new measurements use the optional source_document column; those references remain unverified. The statewide MP file uses a different schema and is not supported by this Bhopal workflow.

Class B is an outdoor-bathing comparison benchmark, not immersion permission. The reports do not provide all measurements needed to establish full Class B compliance. No government system is contacted. No health effects are inferred.
